Audi Multimedia Interface (MMI)® Overview

The Audi MMI is an integral operating concept for the logically simple and intuitive operation of fitted vehicle and infotainment components. The MMI consists essentially of two elements: the MMI terminal in the center console and the MMI display, a monochrome or color monitor in the dashboard. The central element of the MMI terminal is a control button that can be turned and pressed, with four control keys grouped around it. On either side of the terminal there are a total of eight function keys with which the main menus can be called up directly.

The main functions of the system - entertainment, communication, information and control of vehicle systems - are accessed using the eight permanently assigned function keys. Within the individual menus, the driver activates the required functions by turning/pressing the control button. It is intentional that not all settings can be altered in the MMI. Due to the importance of temperature settings for the passengers, for example, a separate control panel has been retained for the automatic air conditioning.

Adaptive Cruise Control

The adaptive cruise control (ACC) option monitors the distance between your vehicle and vehicles in front of you via radar sensors. When engaged, the feature automatically reduces and increases speed to maintain the safe preset distance between you and the vehicle in front of you. If there is no traffic ahead of you, the adaptive cruise control maintains your set speed.

Seating Environment

Drivers naturally connect with their Audi by the steering wheel and pedals, but the most personal contact comes from our technologically advanced seats. It's less a simple place to sit, and more a personalized connection to the vehicle. Nearly infinite adjustments can be made, from adjustability of the upper third of the backrest for better back support to variable lumbar support including a massage function. With safety in mind, you'll find electrically adjustable head restraints, electric belt height adjusters and crash-activated head restraints to prevent injuries to the neck. Intuitive controls are easily within reach and a unique memory system automatically changes every seat, wheel and mirror adjustment based on which key the driver is using. Different drivers can share the same car, and never have to make a single adjustment. Your connection to your vehicle has never been more natural.

Parking System Advanced
with Rearview Camera

The parking system advanced with rearview camera makes parking and reversing easier by providing a real-time view of the rear parking area through the Multi-Media Interface® screen. As you turn the steering wheel, two orange lines will show you the predicted path of your vehicle. The system utilizes sensors to detect obstacles and uses intermittent audible tones to convey the distance to the driver.

These features include a higher resolution MMI display with 3D navigation graphics, as well as a joystick for easy exploration of the map. A built-in forty gigabyte hard drive with SD card capability, a DVD player, and the Audi Music Interface offer you infinite entertainment options. For even more convenience, the new advanced voice recognition system offers hands-free control of your 3G Multi-Media Interface system.

Apple iPhone

Seamlessly synch up your Apple iPhone to your Audi via Bluetooth® connection or the optional Audi Music Interface. Use your iPhone as a telephone, including contacts and much more. Also set up your iPhone as an iPod to navigate through songs, playlists and more via the entertainment function.

Audi Advanced Key

Both the standard intelligent key and the advanced key offer enhanced convenience and security allowing for a variety of ways to lock and unlock, as well as start and turn off your Audi.  With the optional advanced key, the car can be unlocked and started without removing the key from your pocket or purse.

Audi Side Assist

Audi side assist system monitors the blind spot areas to identify other vehicles located to the rear and sides.  If another vehicle is identified, Audi side assist informs the driver via LED lights in the exterior mirror.

SIRIUS Traffic™, available on Audi vehicles equipped with the available 3G MMI Navigation system, is a feature that helps keep drivers better informed with continuously updated traffic information. The SIRIUS Traffic™ feature provides updated information about traffic speed and flow, construction, road closures and other traffic-related incidents for more than 100 metropolitan areas throughout the U.S. Integrated with the Audi Navigation system, SIRIUS Traffic™ can help you determine the fastest and safest route to your destination using the dynamic navigation feature.

Audi Drive Select allows you to adjust the vehicle's driving characteristics to match the driver's preferred driving style and prevailing road conditions at any time. This optional system offers four distinct driving modes: COMFORT, AUTO, DYNAMIC, and INDIVIDUAL. Each mode provides a unique configuration of the dynamic steering, suspension damping, transmission, and throttle mapping to create unique driving experiences.
